Every single one of us has a mind full of ideas. Full of goals and dreams and wishes that we would love to see become a reality. But we also live very busy lives and don’t think we have the time to dedicate to these inner wishes.

In most cases, we set a goal and then after sometime, due to lack of time and motivation it just becomes an unfinished project. I’m so glad that a friend wrote into theclarityofmind.com asking for my advice on this matter, and I’m excited to be able to help you on your journey to success!

What if I told you that with only 10 steps and 5-10 minutes per day, you could achieve every single goal that you have ever imagined? Well guess what, its true and it’s a method that has worked for me over and over again. Experiences these small victories in life are not only very rewarding, but they help us continue to grow and become the best version of ourselves possible. So, what are you waiting for? Lets get going!

Step 1: Pin Down Your Ultimate Goal

This is the easy part! You’ve been brainstorming ideas for years, now its time to take a second and close your eyes and envision what is it is that you want to achieve. No matter how big or small it may seem, this is your goal and your dream. Do not allow any limitations on yourself. Anything is possible.

Step 2: Jot It Down

Once you can see the clear image of what it is that you ultimately desire, write it down. By doing so, you’ve not only begun the process already, but you are able to release all of your thoughts and intentions so that you are able to refer back to them if you ever find yourself going off the track. Once the idea is in your head, your brain will be constantly thinking of new ways to better it. By always making sure to write these down as they come, you wont have that moment later of, “I thought of something good, but now I can’t remember”, which happens all to frequently.

Step 3: Establish The Why

Knowing that you want to accomplish something is one thing, but expressing why you want to accomplish it is another, and also very necessary. Why is this goal important to you? Why is this a goal that you want to see through to the end? How will this better you? These are some of the questions you should ask yourself, and you will see that the answers to these will be quite simple and easy. It is very important that you understand your own priorities when setting a goal. When you are able to coordinate your goals with your priorities, you will become an ultimate goal setter.

Step 4: Strategize

You now have this big goal in front of you and you aren’t very sure where exactly you should start. Let your self take this ultimate goal, and turn it into several smaller ones. By having these smaller goals, you will be able to better manage your time and to keep focus on the project at hand. These smaller goals will also allow you to save energy, since you are tackling one smaller piece at a time instead of the whole project at once, you will be able to be more thorough with your goal which will only make the outcome that much better.

Step 5: Detect Your Motivation

Now that we know that understanding yourself will help your success, you need to think about what will keep you motivated. In order to see a goal through, you have to remain focused. Motivation is vital in goal achievement and is the major aspect that will turn this goal of yours into a reality. Whether it’s for yourself, a business, or even your family, write it down and don’t let yourself forget this. Keeping motivation is the largest struggle in goal achievement, we tend to get side tracked very easily, but if this something you really want, you will be able to see it through.

Step 6: Use Your Imagination

Take a couple minutes to really focus on your goal. Now, close your eyes and see yourself having already completed the goal you are currently working on. How does this make you feel now that you are able to envision the outcome? Make sure to remember this warm and glowing feeling on days that you find yourself struggling to focus, because now you have given yourself a taste of what the finish line is like.

Step 7: Know That Obstacles Will Occur

Life itself is full of twists and turns, and we are never able to know when these might be thrown at us. But being aware that these will come, create a plan that will help you overcome these roadblocks. Whether it’s taking a few minutes to yourself, or allowing it to fuel you more; knowing how to handle the unexpected will keep you on track and will allow you to continue pushing forward. Life is not perfect, but how you handle it shows the type of person that you are.

Step 8: Carpe Diem

Everything in life needs a bit of preparation and this is no different. Create some day-to-day tasks that not only make your short-term goals a little easier, but also keep you involved and thinking. These daily tasks will help keep your mind at ease and allow this process to be a bit more simple and without stress. Make lists, take notes and keep track of everything that you do, trust me you will thank yourself in the end. By allowing yourself to seize the day, you are now fully indulged in this goal and determined to see the outcome, I promise you’re getting close!

Step 9: Ask for help

No matter how much we try to convince ourselves, we are not able to do everything on our own. This might be your goal overall but without the help and support of others you may find yourself struggling to finish. You need to surround yourself with people who not only want the best for you, but that also believe in you. As silly as this may seem, it is very important. Some people don’t like seeing others become more successful than them; they become jealous and therefore try to tear you down. These are the people you need to spot, and stay clear of as much as possible. Your supporters are there to keep you sane and to bring you back to Earth when the going gets tough. Don’t be afraid to share your vision with these people. These are the people who care about you and want to see you thrive. They will want to help you… all you have to do is ask.

Step 10: Be Realistic With Time

You have to understand going in, that this is not something that you will accomplish in a day, or even a week. Only you know how much time you have to dedicate to making this goal a reality. Maybe you only have a few minutes per day to work on it, but that is better than not working on it at all. Set a pace for yourself, that you are able to maintain and that works for you. Don’t allow yourself to be stretched thin. By not setting boundaries you risk burnout, and lack of motivation that will take you all the way back to step one. Always remember, all good things come with time.

While taking these steps to reach your goal, make sure you take time to reflect on your progress and learn from your challenges. Allow yourself to be fully in the moment throughout this whole process. Enjoy everyday, and realize every step is success for you. This will not only keep you growing, but will make future challenges far more simple to achieve.

Congratulations! You’ve successfully completed your goal! How do you feel? Rewarding isn’t it? You owe this time to yourself to enjoy the success that you’ve just accomplished! Now you can see that anything is possible once you put your mind to it. So which goal will you tackle next?
